EuRailCo reinforces its position in Germany and gains new contract in passenger regional rail services - 4 may 2006

EuRailCo has been awarded a new contract in Germany.

Trans Regio, a 75% subsidiary of EuRailCo, will operate the passenger railway line « Mittelrheinbahn » which serves in North Rhineland – Westphalia and Rhineland – Pfalz, the banks of the Rhine between Köln, Coblenz and Mainz for a period of 15 years from the end of 2008.

EuRailCo – Trans Regio is presently operating three regional passenger transport services in the Rhineland - Pfalz region, totalling 1.3m km per year, at an annual turnover of €13m.

The new contract will bring to EuRailCo – Trans Regio an additional annual turnover of approximately €36m for extra 2.9m km per year it operates.

This gives Trans Regio a considerable growth in activity and will allow the company to significantly position itself in the field of electrical regional rail services.

The new operation will also reinforce in a spectacular way the presence of EurailCo – Trans Regio in these regions and will place it under excellent conditions to continue to develop locally and on other German regional railway markets.

EuRailCo, while combining the confirmed expertise of its two shareholders TRANSDEV and RATP Development, furthers its ambition to become one of the major European passenger railway operators.
